Gainesville, Florida UF Health Shands Hospital

Immerse yourself in opportunity here at our Magnet-caliber Level 1 Trauma Center and teaching hospital. We are the flagship facility within the UF Health system, noted for the expanse of our resources and the complexity of our care.

Our campus is home to more than 100 leading specialties and several centers of excellence, including cancer, cardiovascular, neuromedicine and transplant. UF Health Shands Hospital is the state’s leading referral system because of innovative breakthroughs and a nationally and internationally recognized staff. Our teams also collaborate closely with the six UF Health Science Center colleges, including the College of Nursing, further advancing education and scientific discovery.

Nursing leadership is recognized for providing visionary guidance to a team of  more than 2,000 registered nurses. We have an obligation to each nurse who works here, and are proud to provide the resources and conveniences you–and your patients–need most.

That means lift racks, ample computer stations, central supply rooms, soft floors in the hallways and mobile relaxation stations. Along with Lift Teams, PICC Teams and a SWAT team that can provide immediate assistance whenever you need it, we’ve also created a STAT nurse role that responds to pages for expert-level support. And you’ll also have resident physicians available 24/7.

But that’s not the end of our commitment to your success. UF Health Shands Hospital also provides extensive orientation and professional development and educational opportunities, including our unique advanced practice internships, shadowing program, research and leadership fellowships, preceptors, retreats, access to the Health Science Center Library and more.
